A long time ago, Guìzhōu Province (贵州) didn't have any donkeys. A man decided to have one shipped in, but once it arrived, he couldn't find any use for it, so he released the animal into the mountainous foothills.
Not long after, a tiger stumbled across the donkey and, never having seen such a monstrous four-legged animal before, was absolutely scared out of his wits. He ran off behind a tree, and over the course of a few days, he carefully observed the creature and its abilities from afar.
On one of those days, the donkey started braying. The tiger was shocked and frightened, and he grew so nervous that the donkey was going to eat him that he ran to hide again. However, it didn't take him long to realize that he was not being threatened, and he resumed his observation.
A few days of observation later, the tiger finally dared to approach the donkey. The donkey immediately grew enraged, swore at him, and kicked at him repeatedly. The tiger realized that the donkey could do nothing but kick, and he decided that such a skill wasn't enough to stop him. He dodged another kick, killed the animal, and then ate each and every ounce of him.
