《晋书》(Jìn Shū), a work documenting the history of the Jìn Dynasty (晋, 265 - 420). It was written by Táng Dynasty (唐, 618 - 907) historian 房玄龄 (Fáng Xuán Líng)
左思 (Zuǒ Sī) was a famous Jìn Dynasty (晋, 265 - 420) writer who came from a long line of Confucian scholars. When he was young, however, he lacked talent and motivation to learn anything, and when he reached adulthood, his own father said disgustedly that 左思 knew even less than him when he was small child.
左思 didn't like his father's criticism, and he soon set about studying in earnest and eventually wrote several books. His third work, 《三都赋》 (Sān Dū Fù), was based on the Three Kingdoms period (三国时期, 220 - 280) and took him ten years to finish. It was this book, however, that exploded with popularity, especially within the city of 洛阳 (Luò Yáng). In the end, so many copies of the work were printed that the supply of paper within the city plummeted and the price of paper skyrocketed.
